“I have personally worked with Christopher Ian on my project SCULPT in the context of LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). SCULPT was a very complex and challenging object that required a lot of implication and concern from the viewer who was asked to read, experience and understand the aesthetic and conceptual gesture it triggered. The exhibition gathered more than 100 publications and critics from specialists of different fields and knowledge. Nevertheless, no one had got to the bottom of it, investigated, understood the dynamic and mechanism with the very same rigor that I put into producing it, except Christopher Ian. This is rare enough to be testified as it creates a very true and objective relation to art – which is exactly what Chrisopher Ian does.”

“Not since the writing of Thomas McEvilley, one of the greatest art critics of the past century, have I been so engaged with an art writer as I have with Christopher Ian Lutz. His unique perspective, depth of analysis and integrity draws out the most engaging affinities between contemporary art and its historical precedents.

I look forward to new works by Christopher Ian as I would look forward to new works by any of the serious, highly regarded and acclaimed artists of our time.  Each addition to his body of work is a contribution to the spirit and further understanding of the most difficult to articulate aspects of the visual arts.”

“As an art writer and curator, I encounter a vast number of people in the art world. Christopher Ian stands out above the crowd in many respects: Christopher is knowledgeable about art and culture, and has an intuitive understanding of art and the artistic process that inspires trust in the artist as well as the audience. Christopher is driven to champion artists and bring an awareness of them to the general public while not compromising the artists’ vision.”

“Christopher Ian’s WRITING is compelling and sharp. He truly sees artists and understands the messages they are trying to communicate. Not only does he spend time with his subjects, learning about them, but also learning about the topics they care about. Ian’s work embodies the exact definition of the well-researched narrative.”
